SGEO is a European geostationary satellite platform based on a modular design for communications payloads.
Space Structures was responsible for all mechanical aspects of the project on system level.
- Definition of the structure specification, monitoring of SoC and VCD.
- Ensuring structure compliance and compatibility to all requirements and potential launchers
- Definition and review of documentation and analysis provided by the structure hardware supplier RUAG Space
- Global system level spacecraft FEM
- Evaluation of non-conformances, damages and repairs of the structure during AIT phase
- STM and PFM mechanical definition, test prediction, instrumentation, execution and results documentation
- Evaluation of test results and demonstration of the mechanical qualification of the SGEO platform and Hispasat 36W-1 mission
- Preparation of Craig-Bampton FE models for Coupled Load Analysis (CLA) with Launchers
System level responsibilities
- Definition of mechanical system-level rules and guidelines
- Definition of the mechanical test campaign of the Proto-Flight Model (PFM)
- Mechanical interface to launchers, customers and suppliers
Mechanical sub-system support
- Review of all mechanical analyses, test results and documentation
- Participation to major milestone reviews and test campaigns of equipment developments
- Compatibility of subsystem FEM model and global spacecraft FEM model
- Evaluation of non-conformances of sub-systems
